Happy Birthday, John!!

Today is my dear husband's birthday!! He is a wonderful husband to me and a loving father to the three children in our home.  Sometimes I'm gobsmacked as to how I got so lucky to have such a wonderful person as a husband and best friend.

We're so grateful for his life and hard work!  The kids said they would like to have party hats and wanted to eat birthday cake on the way to childcare.  Looks like we'll have a snowy evening when we celebrate tonight!

You and Me

A couple of weeks ago, I was driving over the bridge connecting one side of our city to the other. It was a perfect weather day here—sun, no clouds, no humidity, breezy and 75, Mount Rainier on the left, the Olympics on the right, windows open, kids in the car seats watching the water and birds go by.

“You and Me” was playing on the radio. I hadn’t listened to the lyrics before, but now I heard and loved it. This is the song for John and me these days. Things have been a bit overwhelming and very busy with John's classes, my job, and the kids' various foster care appointments, but with God’s help, we’re doin’ the damn thing.

So, enjoy the song and maybe play it thinking of your sweetheart when you feel down or overwhelmed.

You and me together, we can do anything, baby. You and me together, yeah, yeah.

3 down, 1 to go!

This week, John has 4 exams. Today is his last one, and he plans to go to bed early tonight and catch up on sleep. He doesn't have to be in Seattle till late morning tomorrow, so it will be nice to have him around before I leave for work. This has been a month full of new things for him, and I'm really proud of him for working so hard for us and our future. Thanks, John!!

Love is...

letting your wife use the new iPod so that she can work out to her Michael Jackson tunes.
(Thanks, John). :)

Congratulations, John!!

Just wanted to give props to my hardworking, loving, devoted, funny, and very smart husband. For the past 1.5 years, he has been taking science and math classes so that he could apply to grad school for physical therapy. After much thought and research, John realized that his calling was to the health field, specifically physical therapy. Since making the decision, he has done a great deal of studying, working with OTs and PTs, and taking the necessary steps to get to grad school.

About 2 weeks ago, he got news from UW that he was on their alternate list, number 28 to be exact. This means that he will get in, if they reach his number and enough people drop off from the list. There were 380 applicants this year, meaning that he beat out 85% of them. I am so proud of him and all of the work he has done. He will find out in the next several weeks if he will start school in the fall. We're still waiting to hear back from UPS (University of Puget Sound), since their deadline for applications was about a month after UW's.

Each day, I thank God for giving me the gift of such a wonderful man. God bless you, John.
