Shabby Apple

For anyone who loves pretty dresses and finds it difficult to locate pretty AND modest dresses that drip with style, check out Shabby Apple.  They have a new line out called Skyscraper.  It is hard not to drool over these dresses....and the shoes that the models wear.  I really like this one. I really like all of them.

I promised myself that if I keep up my exercise and healthy eating and get through the 1/2 marathon, I can get a pair of Mary Jane high heels--green, preferrably. Or maybe a pair of beige heels.

It's funny how things get done (running wise) when I have the motivation of a new pair of shoes (TJ Maxx, here I come.).  My rule is  that when I buy a new pair, I have to get rid of a pair in my closet.  I know just which ones, too.  There will be lots of shopping in my closet this summer--wearing cute summer clothes (hence, lots of running and weights so that I actually CAN wear them) that I haven't worn in a couple of years, and having a dress shortened so that it doesn't scream 1998, but rather classy chic and always in style.

Update-May

Well, Little Man has been with us for nearly a month. We drive two days a week to Tacoma for visitation, and I’m trying to keep straight which social worker is which and for what purpose. He continues to do well, but John and I are learning to help him with his emotions with love and discipline to help him feel secure. It has been a big challenge to deal with the amount of crying and screaming he does on the weekends sometimes. But, I think he's just so used to doing that to get a reaction and to feel secure, that it has become second nature.

It would be fun to get his second year photos taken while he is still with us. My idea is to have a photo of each child on the wall so that we have something to remember them.

In other news, I got my Vibram 5 Finger Sprints a at REI little while ago and have been walking around in them. On Sunday, we had a 5K training run, so I did two miles in my regular shoes and the third mile in the Vibrams. At first, I had to get used to the feel of the road under my feet. After the first few minutes, I enjoyed it immensely. My pace increased and my running style changed since I was running the natural way which is landing on the ball of the foot with the heel barely touching the ground before springing back.

Since different muscles are used when wearing these shoes, it is a good idea to take things slowly so that injury does not occur. I'm not sure if I'll wear the Vibrams for the entire Half Marathon, but I know that I will not be wearing my heavy, over-pronation corrective running shoes for it. My bunion will thank me.
