I haven't posted anything on RC for a while. I read this explanation of what "consecrated virgin" is according to Canon 604. How women are 'consecrated' in Regnum Christi is different and can be misleading when RC and LC explain what they define as 'consecrated life.'
As always, I'm open to discussion about this topic. I think some members have not wanted to even bring up the subject with me, but that seems to just continue the confusion and lack of transparency, and that's not healthy.
My prayers go up for those young women 'consecrated' in RC--that they'll be protected.

I have always been confused by seeing young women in our parish, seemingly, consecrated virgins, (their mothers and fathers beaming with joy in the telling of their daughter being a consecrated virgin) return to our parish, get married and viola, seem to be living a life with no regard to the fact that they are actually a "consecrated virgin".
Does RC have vows to renounce their status of consecrated virgin?
That is a good question. No, there is no real 'renouncing of the vows,' because, canonically, they are not vows, even though the woman sees them as serious as vows. Instead, they are called 'promises.' Sometimes, the women who leave either 'discover' that they are not called to this life, or their directress and/or spiritual director, confessor tells them (after years sometimes) that they do not have a vocation.
